Three Sisters

Rising dramatically from the ancient sandstone of the Jamison Valley, the Three Sisters are the Blue Mountains' most iconic natural landmark. This trio of weathered rock pillars, named Meehni, Wimlah, and Gunnedoo in Aboriginal legend, commands a view that stops every traveller in their tracks. Whether you catch them at dawn when they glow ochre, or under a full moon when they seem to float above the eucalypts, this is a sight you'll carry home.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors spend 1–2 hours at Echo Point and the immediate lookouts, which is enough for photos and a short walk. For a fuller experience, dedicate half a day: start with the Giant Stairway descent (allow 2–3 hours round trip if you take the Scenic Railway back up), then explore Scenic World and grab a coffee in Katoomba. If you're a keen hiker, a full day lets you connect to the Federal Pass trail and explore the valley floor.
