About Us
AU Public Holidays (au-public-holidays.com) is a free reference site that publishes accurate Australian public holiday and school holiday dates, state and territory holidays, and long-weekend planners — in plain English and many other languages.
Who runs this site
This website is maintained by an independent, New Zealand-based publisher. We build and maintain a small family of public-holiday reference sites for Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, and are not affiliated with any government department.
What we do
Our goal is simple: give people a fast, clear, ad-light answer to “when is the next public holiday?” and the planning tools around it — long weekends, school terms, state and territory holidays, and downloadable calendar files. Every holiday page is available in multiple languages so visitors can read the dates in the language they are most comfortable with.
Where our data comes from
Australian public holidays are set by each state and territory, so dates are compiled from official government sources — principally the Fair Work Ombudsman and the individual state and territory government public-holiday listings — together with each department of education’s school term dates. We cross-check every year’s dates against these primary sources before publishing.
How we keep it accurate
Dates are reviewed and updated annually, and whenever a state or territory announces a change (for example a new or one-off public holiday, or a substitute day). If you spot anything that looks wrong, please tell us — there is a report a problem link in the footer of every page.
Who it’s for
Employees and employers, parents planning around school terms, travellers, and anyone arranging a long weekend. The information is provided for general reference only — for employment or legal decisions you should always confirm against the official sources above or seek professional advice.
