Highlights & What to See
- Scenic Skyway – A glass-floored cable car that glides 720 metres across the gorge, offering jaw-dropping views of the Three Sisters, Katoomba Falls, and the vast valley below. For the bold, the transparent floor is a heart-in-mouth experience.
- Scenic Railway – The steepest passenger railway in the world, descending 310 metres through a cliffside tunnel into the ancient rainforest. Originally built for coal mining, this thrilling ride is now a gentle way to reach the valley floor.
- Scenic Cableway – Australia's largest cable car, carrying you 545 metres down into the valley. The views of the sandstone cliffs and eucalypt forest are spectacular, especially in the late afternoon light.
- Scenic Walkway – A 2.4-kilometre boardwalk through the temperate rainforest at the valley floor. Keep an eye out for lyrebirds, wallabies, and the lush ferns that thrive in this protected environment. It's an easy, wheelchair-accessible stroll.
- Three Sisters Lookout – Just a short walk from the main complex, this iconic viewpoint offers a classic Blue Mountains panorama. It's especially photogenic at sunrise or sunset.
Suggested Time to Spend
Most visitors spend half a day (3–4 hours) at Scenic World, which gives you time to ride all three attractions and take a leisurely walk along the boardwalk. For a more immersive visit, consider arriving early to enjoy the quieter morning atmosphere, then combine your trip with a bushwalk in the nearby Katoomba area.
