The Six Foot Track is a legendary 45 km walking trail that winds from Katoomba in the Blue Mountains to the Jenolan Caves, offering a multi-day bushwalking experience through wild, dramatic landscapes. This historic route, originally a horse-and-carriage track built in 1884, takes you past the towering Nellies Glen waterfall, across the Megalong Valley floor, and up through eucalypt forests and limestone escarpments. It's a journey that rewards with deep gorges, river crossings, and the unforgettable sight of the Jenolan Caves emerging from the karst.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most walkers complete the full track in 3 days, staying at the basic campsites at Coxs River and Black Range. A day-walk option is to hike from Katoomba to Nellies Glen and back (about 6 hours), or tackle the final section from Jenolan Caves to the Coxs River (4–5 hours). For a relaxed pace, allow 4 days to soak in the scenery and side trips. The track is well-marked but requires moderate fitness and preparation – bring plenty of water and sturdy boots.
