Mount Buffalo National Park is a stunning alpine playground in Victoria's High Country, known for its dramatic granite cliffs, snow gums, and panoramic views. This 31,000-hectare park offers a mix of wildflower-filled meadows in summer and snow-dusted landscapes in winter, perfect for hiking, rock climbing, and scenic drives. The park's namesake, The Horn, is a granite outcrop that provides breathtaking 360-degree views of the surrounding valleys and mountains.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Allocate a full day to explore the park thoroughly, including the scenic drive to the plateau (about 30 minutes from the entrance) and a few short walks. If you're keen on hiking, consider an overnight stay at the Lake Catani campground (book in advance) to tackle longer trails like the 13 km return hike to The Horn. In winter, a half-day is enough for snow play and short walks, but check road conditions as snow chains may be required.
