Wangi Falls

Thundering into a deep, palm-fringed plunge pool, Wangi Falls is the crown jewel of Litchfield National Park and one of the Northern Territory's most irresistible swimming holes. After the wet season (Nov–Apr), the falls are at their most powerful, sending up a cooling mist that blankets the surrounding monsoon vine forest. Come early in the dry season to claim a spot on the grassy banks and feel the spray on your skin — this is Top End bliss at its finest.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Dedicate at least half a day to Wangi Falls and the nearby Florence Falls / Buley Rockhole area. Arrive by 9 am to secure a parking spot and enjoy the falls before the crowds build. Combine with a morning walk and a long lunch by the water, then explore the other Litchfield highlights on your way back to Darwin or Batchelor. If you're short on time, a two-hour stop for a swim and a short walk still feels rewarding.
