Perisher is Australia’s largest ski resort, sprawling across four interconnected villages—Perisher Valley, Blue Cow, Smiggin Holes, and Guthega—in the heart of the Snowy Mountains. While the Central Coast might seem an unlikely base, savvy travellers combine a coastal road trip with a detour inland to this winter wonderland. Expect world-class skiing and snowboarding from June to October, plus a lively après-ski scene and stunning alpine scenery that feels a world away from the beach.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors spend a full day skiing or boarding, but to truly experience all four villages, plan for at least two to three days. If you’re combining with a Central Coast itinerary, a long weekend works well: drive from Sydney to Perisher (about 5.5 hours) on Friday, ski Saturday and Sunday, and return Monday. For non-skiers, a day trip is feasible—enjoy snow play, scenic rides, and a hearty lunch by the fire.
