Perched atop Capital Hill, Parliament House is the symbolic and functional heart of Australian democracy. This iconic building, with its striking flagpole soaring 81 metres above the ground, is more than a seat of government — it's a must-visit destination that offers insight into the nation's political life, architecture, and art. The building is set into the hill, allowing visitors to literally walk over the roof and enjoy panoramic views of Lake Burley Griffin and the surrounding parliamentary triangle. Inside, the grand foyer, the Great Hall, and the two chambers (House of Representatives and Senate) are open to the public, with free guided tours available daily.
