Set on the wide, murray-hued bends of the River Murray, Renmark is the Riverland’s historic heart – a place where paddle-steamers once loaded wool and wheat, and where today the pace is set by the river’s gentle current. This is a town that lives for the outdoors: houseboats drift past citrus orchards, cyclists pedal along the riverfront trail, and the scent of eucalyptus and sun-warmed earth hangs in the air. Renmark is your gateway to the Murray’s backwaters, wetlands, and cliff-lined reaches.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Two to three days gives you time to cruise the river, explore the wetlands, and sample the local produce. If you have a houseboat, stretch it to four or five days – the slow pace of the Murray is its own reward. Many visitors use Renmark as a base for day trips to nearby towns and conservation parks.
