Plunging 100 metres down a sheer dolerite cliff in the heart of Tasmania's Great Western Tiers, Meander Falls is one of the island's most spectacular waterfall walks. The trail winds through ancient myrtle and sassafras rainforest, past mossy boulders and fern-lined creeks, before opening to the dramatic amphitheatre of the falls. It's a challenging but rewarding day hike that immerses you in the wild, primeval landscape that defines Tasmania's wilderness.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Allow a full day for the return hike from the Meander Falls car park. The 13.6 km return walk takes most people 5–6 hours, depending on fitness and how long you linger at the falls. Start early to avoid afternoon showers and to enjoy the best light on the falls. Pack plenty of water, snacks and warm layers – the weather can change quickly in the Tiers.
