Iltara

Iltara is a remote and rugged outback camping area within Watarrka National Park, offering a true sense of isolation and immersion in the ancient landscapes of the Northern Territory. This is the place to disconnect from the modern world and sleep under a canopy of stars, surrounded by the red rock formations and spinifex grasslands that define the region.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors spend two to three days in the area. One full day is enough to complete the Kings Canyon Rim Walk and perhaps the Kings Creek Walk, but an extra day allows for a more relaxed pace, a scenic flight, or exploration of the Giles Track. Camping at Iltara for one or two nights is ideal to fully appreciate the remote setting.
