It’s a place that rewards the curious traveller with raw landscapes, surprising history, and a real sense of frontier life. Whether you’re passing through on the Stuart Highway or making a dedicated stop, Tennant Creek offers a window into the heart of Australia that feels a world away from the coast.

If you’re on a tight itinerary, even a half-day stop lets you visit Nyinkka Nyunyu and Battery Hill. The town is also a perfect overnight rest point between Alice Springs (500 km south) and Katherine (700 km north), so factor in a night to break the drive.
