Stretching 45 kilometres from Katoomba to Jenolan Caves, the Six Foot Track is one of Australia's most storied multi-day walks, winding through the rugged Blue Mountains wilderness. Originally built in 1884 as a bridle path, this historic trail delivers a raw, immersive bushwalking experience with dramatic gorges, eucalypt forests, and limestone caves as your reward. It's a rite of passage for experienced hikers seeking solitude and a genuine connection to the landscape.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most walkers tackle the Six Foot Track over three days and two nights, camping at designated sites along the way. This allows a comfortable pace: day one from Katoomba to the Coxs River (about 6–7 hours), day two from the river to Jenolan Caves (5–6 hours), and a final morning exploring the caves. Experienced hikers can push it in two days, but you'll miss the chance to soak in the river camp and the changing light. Plan to start early each day to avoid the afternoon heat in the valleys.
