Shelly Beach is a tranquil crescent of golden sand tucked away on the southern shores of Port Stephens, offering a peaceful escape from the busier beaches. The calm, crystal-clear waters are protected by a headland, making it an ideal spot for swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding. Shelly Beach is also a gateway to the Tomaree National Park, with a walking track that leads to the summit for breathtaking views of the coastline.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors spend a half-day at Shelly Beach, combining a morning swim or kayak with the Tomaree Head walk. If you plan to hike, allow 1.5–2 hours for the walk and photo stops, plus another 1–2 hours for beach time. You could easily fill a full day if you add a picnic, snorkelling, and exploring the nearby coastal paths.
