Hope Estate is a boutique winery and wedding venue set on a gentle hillside overlooking the spectacular Port Stephens coastline. This family-run estate combines cool-climate wine tasting with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean and the distant blue peaks of the Tomaree Headland. The cellar door, housed in a rustic-chic building with floor-to-ceiling glass, pours a small but excellent range of Semillon, Verdelho, and Shiraz. Outside, the terrace and lawn are perfect for a relaxed glass of wine with a cheese platter while watching the sun sink into the bay.
Highlights & What to See
- Cellar door tasting – Sample the estate’s handcrafted wines, with knowledgeable staff explaining the vineyard’s unique microclimate.
- Scenic terrace – Sip a glass of Verdelho on the covered deck, taking in uninterrupted views of Port Stephens and the ocean beyond.
- Cheese and produce platters – Pair local cheeses, cured meats, and artisan bread with your wine; perfect for a light lunch.
- Wedding grounds – Even if you’re not tying the knot, the manicured gardens and vine-lined walkways make for a lovely stroll.
- Sunset sessions – The estate often stays open late on summer weekends, offering live music and golden-hour views.
Suggested Time to Spend
Allow around 1–2 hours for a relaxed tasting and a platter on the terrace. If you’re staying for sunset or a weekend event, plan for 2–3 hours. It’s an easy stop on a day trip around Port Stephens, especially if you combine it with a visit to Nelson Bay or the Tomaree Headland walk.
