Just a 20-minute drive north of Port Stephens, Bago Vineyards offers a slice of rural calm with a cellar door that feels more like a friendly living room than a formal tasting room. This family-run vineyard sits on the edge of the Myall Lakes National Park, producing small-batch wines that reflect the sandy soils and coastal breezes of the region. It’s an ideal stop for travellers craving a relaxed wine experience without the crowds of the Hunter Valley.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors spend 1–2 hours here, which is plenty for a leisurely tasting, a wander around the grounds, and a relaxed picnic. If you’re a wine enthusiast or want to soak up the peaceful rural setting, you could easily stretch it to half a day – especially if you combine it with a short bushwalk in the adjacent national park. The cellar door is open Thursday to Monday from 10am to 5pm, but it’s wise to check their seasonal hours before heading out.
