Stretching 45 kilometres through the rugged heart of the Blue Mountains, the Six Foot Track is one of New South Wales’ most iconic multi-day hiking routes. Originally a bridle path built in 1884, this historic trail connects Katoomba to the Jenolan Caves, winding through deep valleys, eucalypt forests, and past the spectacular Coxs River. For hikers seeking a wilderness immersion without extreme remoteness, the Six Foot Track offers a classic Australian bushwalking experience with well-marked trails, basic campsites, and a real sense of journey.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most walkers complete the Six Foot Track in three days and two nights, camping at the designated sites (Megalong, Coxs River, and Jenolan). Fit hikers can do it in two long days, but the relaxed pace allows you to enjoy the swims and scenery. Many start from Katoomba, but you can also begin from the Jenolan end – just arrange a shuttle or car relocation.
