Nymboida is a small, rugged locality in the Clarence Valley hinterland of northern New South Wales, best known for its thrilling white-water rafting on the Nymboida River and its deep, peaceful gorges. This is a place for adventurers and nature lovers who want to escape the crowds and immerse themselves in ancient Gondwana rainforests, spectacular granite cliffs, and crystal-clear swimming holes. The village itself is tiny, but the surrounding national parks and state forests offer world-class outdoor experiences that feel a world away from the coast.
Highlights & What to See
- White-water rafting on the Nymboida River – One of Australia's best rafting rivers, with Grade II–IV rapids through stunning gorges. Trips run from the Nymboida Canoe Centre and suit both beginners and experienced paddlers.

Most visitors come for a day trip to go rafting, but to truly appreciate the area's wilderness, plan at least two nights. A full day on the river (rafting or kayaking) is unforgettable, followed by a day exploring the national park trails and swimming at Dangar Falls. If you're camping, a three-day weekend allows for a relaxed pace.
