Rising dramatically at the entrance to Port Macquarie's harbour, North Head is a rugged coastal headland where wild surf meets serene bushland. This protected reserve offers sweeping ocean views, historic remnants from the convict era, and a chance to spot migrating whales between May and November. It's a perfect spot for a scenic walk, a picnic with a view, or simply watching the waves crash against the rocky cliffs.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors spend 1–2 hours here, which allows time to walk the clifftop loop, read the interpretive signs, and enjoy a relaxed picnic. If you're keen on photography or whale watching, you could easily stretch it to half a day. Combine with a morning visit to the nearby Koala Hospital or a stroll along Town Beach for a full day out.
