Stretching along the wild coastline between Port Macquarie and the Tacking Point Lighthouse, this easy coastal walk delivers sweeping ocean views, whale-watching opportunities (May–November), and a chance to explore one of Australia’s oldest surviving lighthouses. The path is well-maintained and family-friendly, with plenty of spots to pause for a picnic or a photo.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Allow 1–2 hours for a relaxed one-way walk from the lighthouse to the town beach (or vice versa). The trail is around 2.5 km each way, so you can easily do a return walk in half a day if you factor in picnic stops and photography. Many visitors combine it with a morning at the nearby beaches or a coffee at a seaside café.
