Toowoon Bay

Toowoon Bay is a serene crescent of golden sand on the NSW Central Coast, protected by a rocky headland that creates calm, crystal-clear waters perfect for swimming and snorkelling. Unlike the more commercialised beaches further north, Toowoon Bay retains a laid-back, local feel, with a grassy foreshore park, a saltwater ocean pool, and a handful of excellent cafés just steps from the sand. It’s the kind of place where you can spend a morning floating in the gentle waves and an afternoon exploring rock pools and coastal walks without ever feeling rushed.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors find a half-day (3–4 hours) is enough to swim, explore the rock pools and walk to The Entrance and back. If you want to settle in with a book and lunch at a café, allow a full day. The beach is lovely at any time of day, but early morning offers the calmest water and a quieter atmosphere. Pair it with a morning at nearby Shelly Beach or an afternoon exploring the shops and waterfront at The Entrance.
