Brisbane Water National Park is a rugged bushland escape on the Central Coast of NSW, just north of Sydney and south of Lake Macquarie. This park offers a wild, untamed landscape of sandstone escarpments, deep valleys, and pockets of lush rainforest. It's a paradise for hikers and nature lovers, with Aboriginal heritage sites and stunning lookouts over Brisbane Water and the Pacific Ocean. The park feels remote and peaceful, yet it's easily accessible from the M1 motorway, making it a perfect detour on a road trip between Sydney and Newcastle.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors spend a half-day exploring the park, focusing on one or two walks. If you're keen to do the Girrakool Loop and visit the Aboriginal engraving site, allow at least 3–4 hours. For a more immersive experience, combine it with a walk in Bouddi National Park and a picnic lunch at one of the scenic lookouts – that's a full day. The park is best enjoyed in the cooler months (April to October) when the weather is mild and the bush is lush after rain.
