Royal National Park, just south of Sydney, is a bushwalker’s paradise where coastal cliffs, eucalypt forests, and secluded beaches converge. This protected wilderness offers trails for every level of hiker, from gentle coastal walks to challenging inland treks. The park’s raw beauty—think sandstone escarpments, crashing surf, and the chance to spot lyrebirds and wallabies—makes it an essential escape from the city.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors spend a full day exploring one or two trails. For the Coast Track, allocate two days with an overnight camp. If you’re short on time, the Bundeena to Marley Walk or Palm Jungle Loop can be done in half a day, leaving time for a dip at Wattamolla. Combine with a morning in the nearby town of Bundeena for a relaxed pace.
