Nobbys Beach

Nobbys Beach is a small, sheltered stretch of sand tucked against the southern headland of Newcastle's harbour, dominated by the iconic Nobbys Head lighthouse. It's a local favourite for a quick dip, a picnic, or a stroll, with calm waters that make it a safe bet for families and less confident swimmers. The beach offers postcard-perfect views of the working harbour, with ships gliding past as you soak up the sun.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Half a day is plenty to enjoy Nobbys Beach and its surroundings. Spend an hour or two on the sand, then walk the pier to the lighthouse (allow 30 minutes return). Add another hour to explore the Newcastle Ocean Baths or grab a coffee at one of the nearby beachside cafes. If you're combining it with a visit to Newcastle's city centre or the Hunter Valley wine region, you can easily fit Nobbys Beach into a morning or afternoon stop.
