Coalcliff is a small, ruggedly beautiful coastal village wedged between the Pacific Ocean and the dramatic Illawarra Escarpment, about 70 kilometres south of Sydney. Once a bustling coal-mining port, today it offers a quiet escape with wild beaches, dramatic sea cliffs, and a palpable sense of history. The famous Sea Cliff Bridge begins just north of here, making Coalcliff a perfect stop for self-drivers exploring the Grand Pacific Drive.
