Brisbane Water National Park is a wild gem on the Central Coast of NSW, just an hour north of Sydney. This rugged park of sandstone escarpments, eucalypt forests, and hidden waterways offers a genuine escape into nature, with superb bushwalking, Aboriginal rock art, and panoramic views over the Hawkesbury River and Brisbane Water. It's less crowded than its southern neighbours, making it a perfect detour on a drive between Sydney and the Hunter Valley.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors come for a half-day walk, but to fully appreciate the park – combining a coastal walk with a waterfall loop and a picnic lunch – plan for a full day. If you're short on time, the Girrakool Loop and Warrah Lookout can be done in 2–3 hours. The park is best visited from late autumn to spring (April–October) when the weather is mild and the waterfalls are flowing. Avoid summer weekends when the limited parking fills early.
