Iluka Nature Reserve is a pristine coastal wilderness on the far north coast of New South Wales, where ancient rainforest meets the Pacific Ocean. This UNESCO World Heritage-listed site protects one of the last remaining stands of littoral rainforest in the state, offering a serene escape into a landscape of towering palms, vine-laced trees, and secluded beaches. The reserve is a haven for birdwatchers, bushwalkers, and anyone seeking unspoiled nature away from the crowds.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors spend 1–2 hours exploring the rainforest walk and the lookout. If you plan to combine it with a coastal walk into Bundjalung National Park or relax on the beach, allocate a half-day. The reserve is compact, so it's easy to fit into a morning or afternoon between other Hunter Valley attractions.
