Stretching south of Adelaide, the Fleurieu Peninsula is a sun-drenched escape of rolling vineyards, dramatic coastlines, and laid-back seaside villages. This is South Australia’s weekend playground, where you can taste world-class cool-climate wines, swim at pristine beaches, and spot kangaroos on wild headlands. The peninsula’s easygoing rhythm and stunning scenery make it a perfect detour for any traveller exploring the region.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Three to four days lets you sample the peninsula’s highlights without rushing. Base yourself in McLaren Vale for two nights to explore vineyards and the coast, then move to Victor Harbor or Port Elliot for a night. A day each for wine tasting, coastal walks, and beach time is ideal. If you’re short on time, a long day trip from Adelaide can cover McLaren Vale and Victor Harbor, but you’ll miss the peninsula’s quieter corners.
