Echo Point & The Three Sisters

Few sights in Australia are as instantly recognisable as the Three Sisters — three sandstone pillars jutting from the Jamison Valley floor, best viewed from Echo Point lookout. Perched on the edge of the Blue Mountains escarpment, this is the region's iconic photo stop, where the sheer drop and layered eucalypt forests create a dizzying panorama. The viewing platform is wheelchair-accessible and the air is crisp with the scent of gum trees, but the real magic happens at sunrise or sunset when the rock glows ochre against the blue haze.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Half a day is ample for the main lookout, a short walk, and a visit to Scenic World. If you're keen on the Giant Stairway and a longer bushwalk (such as the Wentworth Falls track), allow a full day. The site is best visited in the morning when the light hits the Sisters directly; afternoon tends to be hazy and crowded with tour buses. Combine with a lunch stop in Katoomba (5 minutes' drive) for a classic Blue Mountains day.
