Wooroonooran National Park is a lush, tropical wonderland in the heart of Queensland’s Wet Tropics, not the Central Coast of NSW. This World Heritage-listed park is a haven for rainforest lovers, with towering waterfalls, crystal-clear swimming holes, and ancient trees draped in vines. It’s a place where you can feel the raw power of nature, from the roar of the Stoney Creek Falls to the serene beauty of the boulder-strewn Josephine Falls. Whether you’re a keen hiker or just looking for a refreshing dip, this park delivers an authentic Australian jungle experience.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Allow at least a full day to explore the park’s key attractions. Start early with a swim at Josephine Falls, then tackle a short rainforest walk before lunch. In the afternoon, drive the scenic route to the Boulders (just outside the park) or take the Kuranda Railway for a different perspective. If you’re a serious hiker, plan for two days to conquer Bartle Frere and camp overnight. The park is best visited during the dry season (May–October) when the trails are less muddy and the swimming is safer.
