Tweed Heads, straddling the New South WalesQueensland border, is a laid-back coastal town where the Tweed River meets the Pacific. With its subtropical climate, uncrowded beaches, and easy access to both the Gold Coast and the lush hinterland, it’s a savvy base for exploring the region without the high-rise bustle.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Three to four days allows you to explore the beaches, hinterland, and cultural sites at a relaxed pace. Spend one day on the coastal highlights (Fingal Head, Greenmount, Point Danger), a second day inland for the gallery and a hinterland drive, and a third day for a boat trip to Cook Island or a surf session. If you only have a day, focus on the coastal walk between Fingal and Point Danger, with a swim at Greenmount.
