Springbrook National Park, a lush World Heritage-listed rainforest on the Gold Coast hinterland, is a sanctuary of ancient trees, plunging waterfalls, and dramatic lookouts. This Gondwana Rainforest remnant offers a cool escape from the coast, with walking trails that weave through misty valleys and past cascades like the iconic Natural Bridge. It's a must for nature lovers and photographers.
Highlights & What to See
- Natural Bridge: A stunning rock arch formed by a waterfall, with a glowworm colony visible in the cave behind it — best visited after dark for the full effect.
- Twin Falls Circuit: A 4km loop taking you behind two waterfalls, with lush rainforest and creek crossings. The sound of water is constant.
- Best of All Lookout: A short walk to a platform with panoramic views over the Gold Coast and, on clear days, Byron Bay. Sunrise here is magical.
- Purling Brook Falls: A spectacular 100m drop you can view from above or hike down to the base. The gorge walk is a highlight.
- Warrie Circuit: A longer 17km hike through subtropical rainforest, past multiple waterfalls and swimming holes. Ideal for fit walkers.
Suggested Time to Spend
Most visitors spend a full day exploring the park's main attractions. Start early at Natural Bridge, then do the Twin Falls Circuit (1.5–2 hours) and finish at Best of All Lookout for sunset. If you only have a half-day, focus on Natural Bridge and Purling Brook Falls. Hikers can easily fill two days with the Warrie Circuit and nearby trails.
