Rising abruptly from the Gold Coast hinterland, Mount Tamborine offers a cool-climate escape of ancient rainforests, tumbling waterfalls, and a thriving arts-and-food scene. The Tamborine Mountain plateau, with its three villages—North Tamborine, Eagle Heights, and Mount Tamborine—is dotted with galleries, boutique wineries, and craft breweries, all set against the backdrop of the Gondwana Rainforests, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This is a place to breathe deeply, hike through towering tree ferns, taste local produce, and soak up panoramic views from the Scenic Rim to the Pacific Ocean.

Suggested Time to Spend

Mount Tamborine can be enjoyed as a day trip from Brisbane or the Gold Coast, but to truly appreciate its walks, food scene, and relaxed pace, plan for one or two nights. A single day allows you to tackle one major walk, browse Gallery Walk, and enjoy a wine tasting. With an overnight stay, you can hike two or three trails, visit the botanic gardens, and dine at one of the plateau's acclaimed restaurants, such as The Polish Place or St Bernards Hotel. Weekend visitors can also explore the nearby Cedar Creek Estate Winery and Thunderbird Park without rushing.
