Rising 287 metres above the Brisbane River, Mount Coot Tha is the city’s most accessible bushland escape, offering panoramic views from the summit that stretch from the city skyline to Moreton Bay. This leafy reserve is a favourite among locals for sunrise walks, weekend picnics, and a dose of nature without leaving the urban fringe. The lookout is just a short drive from the city centre, making it an easy addition to any Brisbane itinerary.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors spend 1–2 hours at the summit lookout and botanic gardens. If you plan to do a longer walk (like the Summit Track or the full loop of the gardens), allow half a day. The reserve is open from 5am to 6pm (or later in summer), and the café at the summit serves breakfast and lunch – a great spot to linger over coffee with a view.
