Moreton Bay is a sprawling, shimmering expanse of turquoise water dotted with sandy islands and fringed by the urban sprawl of Brisbane. Despite its proximity to the city, the bay feels like a world away, offering world-class sailing, dolphin spotting, and some of Queensland's most laid-back coastal vibes. Whether you're island-hopping or casting a line off a jetty, this is quintessential subtropical Australia.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most travellers base themselves in Brisbane and spend 2–3 days exploring the bay. A day trip to either Moreton Island or North Stradbroke Island is doable but feels rushed—overnight stays allow you to experience sunset and sunrise without the day-tripper crowds. If you have only one day, choose one island and book a ferry early. Self-drivers can easily combine a morning on Bribie Island with an afternoon in the Glass House Mountains.
