Mon Repos Turtle Centre, on the coast near Bundaberg, is one of Australia's most important marine turtle rookeries. From November to March, you can witness endangered loggerhead turtles (and occasionally flatback and green turtles) laying eggs or tiny hatchlings scrambling to the sea. The centre offers ranger-led tours after dark, combining conservation storytelling with intimate wildlife encounters. It's a bucket-list experience for nature lovers and families alike.

Suggested Time to Spend

Plan for a full evening: arrive at the centre around 6 pm to explore the exhibits, then join the 2–3 hour turtle tour after sunset. If you're not visiting during nesting season, allow 1–2 hours for the interpretive centre and beach. Combine with a day in Bundaberg to make the most of the trip.
