Killcare & Pretty Beach

Photo: PD

Just a 90-minute drive north of Sydney, Killcare and Pretty Beach are two sleepy, unspoiled coastal hamlets on the Bouddi Peninsula. With their quiet, patrolled beaches, lush national park backdrop, and a handful of excellent cafés, they offer a blissful escape from the city grind. There’s no flashy resort vibe here—just golden sand, calm turquoise water, and a strong sense of old-school beachside simplicity.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Killcare and Pretty Beach are perfect for a relaxed overnight stay or a day trip from Sydney. If you have just a day, arrive by late morning, swim at Pretty Beach, walk a section of the Bouddi Coastal Walk (to Box Head and back takes about 1.5 hours), and enjoy lunch at the general store. For a weekend, base yourself at one of the holiday cottages or the Pretty Beach House (a luxury adults-only retreat) and spend your time swimming, walking, and eating your way through the area.
