Girrakool Loop Track

Set deep in Brisbane Water National Park, the Girrakool Loop Track is a short but spectacular walk that punches well above its weight. This 1.5 km circuit leads you through a lush rainforest pocket, past cascading waterfalls, and across sandstone creek beds. It's an easy, family-friendly walk that feels a world away from the coast, yet is less than an hour's drive from Sydney. The track is particularly magical after rain, when the waterfalls are in full flow and the forest smells of wet eucalypt and fern.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

The loop itself takes about 45 minutes to an hour at a leisurely pace, but allow at least two hours if you plan to swim, picnic, or explore the side trails. Combine it with a visit to the nearby Somersby Falls (10 minutes drive) for a half-day of waterfall chasing. The track is best done in the morning when the light filters through the canopy and the birds are most active.
