Wentworth Falls
Wentworth Falls is a leafy village in the Blue Mountains that offers some of the region’s most spectacular waterfall views and bushwalking. Named after the cascading Wentworth Falls themselves, this area is a magnet for hikers and nature lovers seeking dramatic escarpment lookouts and lush temperate rainforest.
Highlights & What to See
- Wentworth Falls Lookout – A short walk from the carpark delivers a jaw-dropping view of the waterfall plunging into the Jamison Valley. On a misty morning, rainbows often arch over the gorge.
- National Pass – A classic Blue Mountains walk that hugs the cliff face, passing under the falls and through pockets of ancient ferns. The full circuit takes about 3–4 hours, but you can do shorter out-and-back sections.
- Weeping Rock – A natural alcove where water seeps through the sandstone, creating a curtain of dripping moss. It’s a serene spot for photos, especially in spring when wildflowers bloom.
- Princes Rock Lookout – A quieter viewpoint with panoramic views over the valley, perfect for a picnic away from the crowds.
- Conservation Hut – A great place to start walks or grab a coffee and cake while enjoying valley views; it also offers accommodation if you want to stay overnight.
Suggested Time to Spend
Most visitors spend half a day to a full day exploring Wentworth Falls. If you’re short on time, the 30-minute return walk to the main lookout and Weeping Rock gives you the essence. For a deeper experience, tackle the National Pass or the longer loop to the Valley of the Waters – allow 3–5 hours. Overnighters can base themselves here to explore the upper mountains without the crowds of Katoomba.
