Perched on a rugged headland on the New South Wales Central Coast, Norah Head Lighthouse is a striking whitewashed tower that has guided ships along the Tasman Sea since 1903. This fully operational lighthouse offers sweeping ocean views, a rich maritime history, and a peaceful coastal escape just 90 minutes north of Sydney. The surrounding reserve is a haven for whale watching (May–November) and birdwatching, with walking trails that weave through coastal heath and rocky platforms.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors spend 1–2 hours exploring the lighthouse, walking the headland trail, and taking in the views. If you're staying overnight in one of the keeper's cottages, you can enjoy a peaceful evening and sunrise walk. The site is compact, so it's easy to combine with a morning or afternoon at nearby beaches.
