Kondalilla National Park, tucked into the Blackall Range of the Sunshine Coast hinterland, is a lush pocket of subtropical rainforest, cascading creeks and dramatic waterfalls. The park’s name comes from the Aboriginal word for ‘rushing water’ — and you’ll hear it long before you see it. This is a place of cool, green stillness broken by the thunder of Kondalilla Falls, where the Skene Creek plunges 90 metres into a rocky pool. It’s a favourite with hikers, picnickers and anyone craving a dip in a natural swimming hole surrounded by ancient trees.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

You can experience the park’s highlights in a half-day visit. Arrive early to secure a picnic table and enjoy the cooler morning air. For the full experience, plan 3–4 hours to walk the Picnic Creek Circuit, swim, and have a leisurely lunch. If you’re combining it with other Sunshine Coast hinterland attractions, a morning or afternoon here slots easily into a day trip from the coast.
