Font Roja Natural Park is a hiker's paradise tucked in the mountains of Alicante province, offering a slice of Mediterranean wilderness that feels a world away from the coast. This protected area, centred on the dramatic Menejador peak, is a tapestry of limestone crags, shady holm oak groves, and wildflower-strewn meadows. A self-drive here rewards you with stunning views over the Vinalopó Valley and the chance to explore a landscape that has inspired poets and pilgrims for centuries.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Dedicate at least half a day to properly experience Font Roja. A morning hike up Menejador (allow 3–4 hours return from the sanctuary) leaves the afternoon for exploring the gorge and a leisurely picnic. If you're a keen walker, you could easily spend a full day linking trails, but most visitors find 4–5 hours sufficient for the highlights. Combine with a visit to Alcoy (just 6 km away) for lunch or a coffee.
