Biel (pronounced 'beel') is a tiny, laid-back village in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, about 90 minutes southwest of Sydney. With its historic stone buildings, peaceful rural setting, and proximity to some of the region's best wineries and national parks, Biel offers a quiet escape from the city. The village is a great base for exploring the Southern Highlands' cool-climate vineyards, antique shops, and walking trails.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Biel itself can be explored in an hour or two, but you'll want at least a full day to enjoy the surrounding attractions. A weekend is ideal: spend one day touring the wineries and historic villages, and the second day hiking in Morton National Park or relaxing at a local café. For a slower pace, stay overnight in a B&B or cottage.
