Set in a rocky gorge 4 km north of Alice Springs, the Alice Springs Telegraph Station is the birthplace of the town itself. This historic reserve preserves the stone buildings of the Overland Telegraph Line, which connected Australia to the rest of the world in 1872. Wander through the restored telegraph office, residence, and kitchen, and gain a vivid sense of life in this remote outpost. The site also offers Aboriginal cultural tours and easy walking trails through the bush.
