Lancelin Sand Dunes

Just a 90-minute drive north of Perth, the Lancelin Sand Dunes are a surreal, lunar-like landscape of brilliant white sand stretching as far as the eye can see. This natural playground offers an exhilarating escape into a world of pure, wind-sculpted dunes that seem to belong in the Sahara rather than Western Australia.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Half a day is ample for a sandboarding session and a dune walk, but if you're keen on a 4WD tour or want to catch both sunset and sunrise, plan for a full day. Many visitors combine it with a morning at Lancelin's beaches and a late afternoon on the dunes. Overnight camping is not permitted on the dunes, but nearby caravan parks and holiday rentals make it easy to stay over.
