Stretching along the Queensland coast from Rockhampton to Yeppoon, the Capricorn Coast is a sun-drenched stretch of sandy beaches, rocky headlands, and lush hinterland. Named after the Tropic of Capricorn that crosses the region, this area offers a relaxed coastal escape with excellent outdoor activities, a growing food scene, and easy access to the Southern Great Barrier Reef. Whether you're self-driving along the coast or basing yourself in Yeppoon, you'll find a mix of laid-back beach towns, national parks, and island adventures.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Allow at least three days to experience the Capricorn Coast properly. Spend the first day exploring Yeppoon and its beaches, then dedicate a full day to Great Keppel Island for snorkelling and hiking. On the third day, head inland to Byfield National Park or the Capricorn Caves. If you have more time, Rockhampton’s cultural sites and the nearby Mount Archer National Park are worth adding.
