Burra Creek Conservation Park

Burra Creek Conservation Park is a ruggedly beautiful pocket of the Red Centre, where ancient river red gums line a sandy creek bed and the desert sky seems to stretch forever. This little-visited park offers a genuine outback experience without the crowds of Uluru or Kings Canyon – just you, the spinifex, and the call of a zebra finch.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors spend half a day driving through the park, stopping for short walks and a picnic under the red gums. If you're a keen photographer or birdwatcher, plan for a full day to really soak in the atmosphere. Camping is not permitted, so base yourself in Alice Springs and make it a day trip – the park is about 130 km southeast of town, roughly a 1.5-hour drive.
