Hermannsburg is a historic Lutheran mission settlement in the heart of the Northern Territory, 130 km west of Alice Springs. Founded in 1877 by German missionaries, it's a place where Aboriginal Arrernte culture and European heritage intertwine. The iconic whitewashed church, the old mission buildings, and the vibrant art scene make it a compelling stop on a Red Centre road trip. The surrounding Finke River country is starkly beautiful, with red sand dunes and river red gums framing the landscape.
