Deep in the heart of Kakadu National Park, Cooinda Lodge offers a rare blend of comfortable accommodation and raw wilderness. Set beside the serene Yellow Water Billabong, this lodge is the perfect launchpad for exploring the park's ancient escarpments, abundant wildlife, and rich Aboriginal culture. Whether you're a self-drive adventurer or joining guided tours, Cooinda provides a welcoming base with a restaurant, pool, and easy access to some of Kakadu's most iconic experiences.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors base themselves at Cooinda for two to three nights to fully experience Kakadu's highlights. A typical day starts with a Yellow Water cruise at dawn, followed by exploring Nourlangie and the cultural centre. A second day is best dedicated to a 4WD adventure to Jim Jim and Twin Falls (dry season only), with a late afternoon return. If you have a third day, consider a longer walk like the Barrk Sandstone Walk or a scenic flight over the escarpment. The lodge's central location means you can pace yourself without long drives each day.
