Camping in Finke Gorge National Park is an immersive outback experience, where the ancient red cliffs and palm-filled gorges create a dramatic backdrop for a night under the stars. The park's main campground, Woodlands, offers basic facilities and easy access to the iconic Finke River and the famous Palm Valley. This is a place to disconnect and truly appreciate the raw beauty of Australia's Red Centre.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Plan for at least two nights to fully appreciate the park. Day one: set up camp, explore the immediate area around Woodlands, and take a short walk to the river. Day two: tackle the Palm Valley drive and the Kalaranga Lookout walk, then return for a campfire dinner. If you have a high-clearance 4WD, consider an extra night to explore the Finke River 4WD track further south.
